Identify the essential criteria that must be met within the project. Examine already existing solutions, within the assumed problem boundaries, for their usability and consider further possibilities. In order to recapture or change the core problem, alternative solutions must be sought outside existing problem boundaries by shifting the established boundaries and incorporating other areas of knowledge into the analysis. Beyond the problem boundaries, further solutions are sought that ensure some or all of the defined criteria.
